This guy adopted a rescued puppy from us http://ubikuchingproject.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-ubi-stray-dogs.html
We thought he was genuine. He is now selling this dog for a profit ($4k). Is a dog's life worth money only? Please beware if u see his ad on 8 8 d b under Great Dane puppy - male - 2 months old for sale. Edited by avalon on Oct 10, 2009 at 12:28 AM

ok.
coz the way he put up the ad seems to say that he paid near to $4K.
more importantly, the reply wrote there did not state clearly he got it for free.
it may mislead readers to think that, he paid some price, then due to some family reasons, selling it at a lesser price now.
because, the word adoption, may not be familiar to everyone, esp new potential owners.

He paid an adoption fee of $350: we ask for adoption fees to cover our rescued animals boarding/food, to deter adopters from abandoning again (it happened before)/ as well as to generate income for our animal rescue and re-homing work.
He DID not pay $4k.
He has not licensed the dog yet for sure, it has only been less than 1 week.

Whichever case, we did call him up to follow up after the adoption - we record all our adopter's names tel nos and addresses. He said the dog was doing fine at home and refused to let us come and visit.
And now, it seem the reason why is because he all along decided to profit from selling the dog after we re-homed it to him.
Dane was a very happy puppy who needed a new home, but he looks sad in the 8 8 d b website.

I am just wondering if there is anything illegal about what he is doing - misrepresenting on an ad - apart from possibly owning a currently unlicensed dog. It is definitely unethical but I don't know if the law covers this apart from a civil breach of contract. I am running out of authorities to call to report him. Any advice?
Readers if you can, please help me spread the message to all dog-lovers within your circles, blogospheres, pet shop customers etc. When I called this morning he claimed there was already one person interested in the puppy.

Unfortunately we only got his personal particulars: full name, add and tel no. No written agreement. Now that we kena this kind of rubbish, we have just drafted an agreement . All along no written agreement because we just make sure that the adopter handle the animal well when they visit and preferably their family members to come along to view, and we get their contact to follow up on the pet's welfare thereafter. This is our first case of a fella making money out of a dog's life.
AVA has no regulations on this, mainly its on licensing of dogs after 3 months old. SPCA protects cruelty to animals so this is a different case.
Anyway, thanks to all who have responded by scolding this Jeff guy on 8 8 d b for us. Edited by avalon on Oct 11, 2009 at 07:19 PM
