So guilty...how do i salvage her trust and love for me? Apr 8, 2012 10:42 PM (Total replies: 12)
Quote: Hi my friends, I have a confession to make and I need advise. When I first got my dog, Helen, I had alot of expectations for her. I was so excited and in my mind, she is perfect. Thus, whenever she did things which were not up to my approval, i would scold her or hit her. Everytime such a thing happens, she would prone down and give me a guilty and sorry look, and I would continue scolding her. After 3 weeks, I realised what i had done damages her trust for me. I have stopped hitting her and the most i would do is give her a stern talking to. Now, she loves me and would never stop playing with me with fun and enjoyment. However, I am still feeling guilty till today for what i did to her during the 3 weeks. I heard that a dog will never stop loving you but he may stop trusting you if you abuse her. While Helen seemingly doesnt appear to have stopped loving me, I'm still afraid that my treatment than may have damaged abit of trust issues between us.. I would like to rebuild our bond and be ever closer. Any advice you mentors can give me? Thanks! p.s. apologies for the long confession! --- Original message by soundmac on Dec 24, 2008 01:34 PM Well done! Your dog will be proud to have you as her owner!
