Choker on puppy?? Jan 25, 2012 11:15 PM (Total replies: 8)
I'm really afraid that her trachea will collapse because my younger sis walks her too and sometimes she may not know how to control the choker so I have changed to a hardness it was tough at the beginning but she is starting to get used to it. Thank god. Thanks alot

Thanks Joey. I really appreciate it. Hahah glad to know my pup is normal! Sometimes I'm still too slow for my pup. She eats it before I can do anything.

@bailey - we feed her quite alot like 5 spoonfuls of dog food twice a day also i checked out canidae, its one of the best dog foods in the market so i guess nutrients is not a problem.
thanks all for your help. i'll try it out on my pup...

I guess she eats her poop cos she's too hungry. Like after a meal she won't eat her poop. Like she will have a higher tendency to eat her poop if it's like midday and it has been some time since she ate.

Im currently searching for the right crate to buy and I'm temporarily using a playpen which is like huge. Her play pen is about the size of a single bed u know the fence thingy(2x1) it's quite big.
I feed my pup 2 times a day as told by the vet. Morning and evening before walks.
She is about 40 cm from nose to tail (she has practically no tail). She poops at one corner or the playpen on the newspaper when she is inside. But when I let her out she does it everywhere else even if the playpen is open. I was trying to paper train her but now I would like to change to house breaking her. Is it too late?
And I'm not sure what size crate to get.
This is my first time owning a pup so I'm still a newbie at this. My Previous dogs were above 1 and paper trained.

She is coming 7 months.
So if I get it right she most probably won't poop in her crate? Because she tends to eat her poop. So Im thinking that she may poop to eat it. and yeah I take her for a walk 2 times a day but usually she poops more than 2 times. Like avg 3-4 times. 2 times outside and 1-2 times at home.

Thanks alot. You're the only few that keeps replying to my random posts. But let's say if I take her out of her crate and I realize she wants to poop or urinate. Do I put her back in her crate?

Hey
I've been wondering is it ok to keep a puppy in a crate and not let her out until I want to bring it down for a walk everyday? Because she is not paper trained properly yet and I don't want her to make a mess on the floor.
Also how to paper train a dog properly? I have been trying for 2 weeks now. I don't know if I'm doing it right but when I take her out I'll supervise her until I see signs of her wanting to urinate I'll carry her and put her in her playpen. Or should I just let her pee before correcting her?
Please advise.

Choker on puppy?? Jan 19, 2012 01:54 PM (Total replies: 8)
Hello,
I got my chizer puppy (chi x schnau) 2 weeks ago and the previous owner uses a choke chain on it to walk, i have been using it for 2 weeks but recently i read many bad effects of using a choker (e.g bad for her trachea). but when i tried leashing her to her normal collar and tried walking her today but she wont walk properly and keeps pulling at the leash.
she was well trained to come to the choker and puts it on nicely and she walks well with it but occasionally needs to be corrected. she has no bad association with the choker.
should i continue using the choker? because it seems cruel but she wont walk properly without it...

THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR REPLIES!
I was so worried that she may turn out to be aggressive. So any suggestions as to what I can do when we see those not stable dogs mentioned above? Because she stares really hard and refuses to move even when I call her or poke her or jerk the leash.
P.s Big Ceasar Milan fan! I walk her with a choker and I just do that jerk thing. Works most of the time except with she fixates on dogs.

Dog-to-dog aggression Jan 16, 2012 06:53 PM (Total replies: 6)
Hi everyone,
Im kinda new here cos i just got a new puppy so please help me out.
I have a 6 month old chihuahua schnauzer mix (Chizer) that i just adopted 2 weeks ago. when i bring her out for walks she does fine. but whenever we see a dog she will tend to get stiff and fixate on the dog even though they are much bigger than her... (shes about the in between size of a schnauzer and chihuahua) there was once a male dog got quite close and my puppy almost pounced but i kinda jerked her away in time. even after that she continues to stare at them. but she doesnt bark or growl. i do not apply tension on the leash at all and she doesnt pull. she just stares until they approach.
I cannot tell if its aggressive behaviour oR my puppy just wants to play.
Please help. Edited by iloveanimals on Jan 16, 2012 at 07:02 PM
