Introduce Yourself and Your Pets » My baby terrapin doesn't seem to be eating Sep 8, 2011 08:32 PM (Total replies: 4)
i dont really know the difference between the two but heard that UVB is for the turtles to grow their shells and bones and must change bulbs every year. You would need a bigger tank, bigger basking spot and bigger Filter, for starters,u might want to get a larger tank so u wld not have to upgrade very often,i reccommend a 4 ft tank that could last up to 3/4 years and the water level will nid to be filled half the tank but for me i fill till 3/4,As for filter,I would reccomend a canister filter that could support twice the water of ur tank as turtles are messy eaters and poopers compared to fish so for example u have a 40 gallon tank,u will need a canister filter that can support a 80 gallon tank,I am currently using a canister filter called Fluval 305 for my 4ft by 2ft by 2ft tank and only have to clean it once a month and replace tank water twice a month by 50%.Remember that for every inch ur turtle is,u will need am extra 10 gallons which means 2 four inch turtles need a 80 gallon tank. For ur basking spot,u can either diy or buy a zoomed turtle dock or diy,I use to own a zoomed turtle dock medium but now my turtles are too big for it thus i diy with a flower pot and bricks as the stand for it and place a slate rock on top of it.for the base of my tank,i use a mix ture of river rocks and sand for my softshell to bury himself.I use fake plants to cover the flowerpot and bricks for a more "natural" feeling and add some aquatic plants in the tank for my angel fish and guppys to play in.I add some duckweed before but my greedy turtles ate them all in a couple of days

Hi nice to see a new red earred slider owner here I am an owner of 2 red earred sliders and just got a soft shelled turtle hmmm.. the reason y ur res does not want to eat, might be because its still in a new environment and getting used to it.for the uvb and heater ,both are a must and uva and uvb is different,a bit off topic but can i ask the size of ur tank and if u have a filter?

Hey guys,i think that the topic starter has got the wrong defination of crate as to us,crate is the carrier thingy but to him/her it might be the cage with pee tray below like the ones they sell in ericsson

May i know if ur jap spitz is gotten from ericsson petfarm and is a female? If it is than its the puppy i eyed on last week!.Anyways just use the 1st method and ignore the google one as its mostly for american families to train their dogs to go to the garden and poop/pee.cos to them the crate is the carrier but to us the crate is the cage k?

you must confine her in a fence or cage because if u do not,it would take a very very long time to train it,Start by confining it in the four fences thing and do not give in even though she crys or barks and if you give in,she will have the mindset that is like"oh,So if i bark/whine ,i get to come out!thats great!" The reason ur mini pin is alrdy toilet trained is becos the breeder had already toilet trained her.No dogs are born toilet trained,U would have to be very very patient and commited for this and since u decide to get a second dog ,u shd alrdy expect and be prepared for this

I have a rottwweiler cross gsd and jap spitz currently
for my rotti mix ,he is very loyal amd only barks when he poops or urines to tell me to clear it or to scare of other dogs when they bark at hommie.my dad kept him as a guard and watch dog trained by my uncle.he is very loyal and sweet, nvr bites us or stranger, but barks at strangers if they are at the door when im not around to alert me.he is currently 4 yr 2mths old while my jap spitz is turning 9mths

First of all u would need to enclosed it in the playpenwhen ever it wakes up,after play time, after meals put it on the pee pad and when it pees or poos on it ,treat it and priase like this would take a long time to master ,from weeks to 2 or 3 mths .when it does wrongly just scold it a little and clear the urin or poo away and wipe with vinigar to erase smell.patience is the key and next time do some research on toilet training before getting a dog .

Introduce Yourself and Your Pets » Hi all.. family of a dog and 3 kittens Aug 21, 2011 10:10 PM (Total replies: 5)
u could place a towel with the kittens for a day and let ur dog sleep with the towel too but he is not allowed to bite it and whenever he does it,scold him and this will teach him that he must be calm whenever that smell is around and do vice versa with cats too,U could put them up for adoption after their vaccines are done.

Behaviour & Play » How to train male dogs to not lift his legs up to pee? Aug 21, 2011 10:02 PM (Total replies: 15)
I dont think u have a choice cos thats what my GSD mix rotti (lammie) does too while Hommie pee and poo squating down.Guess only option is to train him go downstairs or outside to garden if u have property than wash away with hose

Health, Conditions & Diseases » Tick & Fleas (Part 2) Aug 21, 2011 09:59 PM (Total replies: 1,379)
Take away his collar, pillows and toy right away Prevent the ticks from going on them and watch toys in boiling water and soak pillows in boiling water than put in washing machine and wash

Hi joleelyn Nice to meet u !!! I own a Rotteiler cross GSD and Jap spit named Lammie and Hommie respectively !!!.By Dog v kittens,do u mean that they are fighting? best is u buy a cage for the kittens first and enclose them while litter box training them.according to my neighbour whenever she gets a new kitten, she will litter train and quarrantine it in a cage first and let the other 2 cats get used to its smell and for scratching u would have to buy a scratch post that is stable and tall enough for them to stretch completely, place it in a place they like to go and when they scratch other places, bring the kittens there to scratch and treat them

Yah Purinne, best is dun buy from farm, even if buy at least buy from decent looking ones like Erisson where conditions are better. I cant rly tell u how bad but now what u can do is google on solutions than try find and kill as many ticks as possible and rmb not to vaccum the ticks cos the tick will breed in the vaccum bag.PM me the farm which u bought urs from and i will blacklist it next time Mop ur house floor and try not to let ur dog out of its play pen yet.
