K9 Natural May 10, 2012 12:55 PM (Total replies: 446)
I'm so glad I found k9 natural! I have my girl with me for almost two years now and her skin has been quite bad. She has always been picky with food. I've tried everything that I know of. The last attempt was barf patties. She didn't like that, so to cheat a little, I warmed it up a little. That did the trick! But it didn't last long before she lost interest. However, I was seriously impressed by raw! Her skin cleared up and everything became better, she didnt't have that "dog" smell, etc.
Anyway, I was desperately finding an alternative to barf patties and there came k9 last month. She was reluctant to eat at first. And I forced a bit into her mouth and now she loves it! She always wait while we prepare her food. Has been long since she last behaved like this. But the effects of k9 not apparent yet as her skin allergies came back a few months ago, no idea why.
I have a little question now. I don't really understand the feeding guide on their website. She is 5kg, I do not feed her raw meaty bone and she's fed twice a day. So 1 scoop per meal or 2 scoops?
Thank you!

Quote: I got mine from pasir ris farmway 1 kennel 1 . If i remember correctly (: Milo's breeder is Vincent . After buying him still got go back see him as he is living near me . Got to see Milo's dad once, Both very cute HAHAHA abit last time i went, the pet shop next to pet hotel have damn lot of poodles ! maybe you can try that shop ADOPT IF YOU CAN YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE Edited by mydear_milo on Mar 3, 2011 at 10:07 PM--- Original message by mydear_milo on Mar 3, 2011 10:05 PM if you are referring to a shop called 'dogineer' or something like that, think i have read somewhere in the forum that they are not that honest. i've been there. the puppies are very cute nontheless. looked quite healthy to me, so i am in no position to judge the owners/breeders too.
of course, a pet is for life. if *touch wood*, the selected one is unwell, we, as responsible pet owners, should nurse them back to good health. which i have seen many owners in the forum doing so!

hi samo,
her poo is fine so far. not those really hard kind. i would say it is scoopable.
maybe you would like to try that? to make their kibbles more palatable.

i guess she does not really have problems with chewing. and the kibbles are of small size. i tried to mix her kibbles with water when she first joined us, she didn't touch it. so i didn't try it now.
to entice the taste of her kibbles, i have added a bit of canned food. and she loves it! is it alright to mix the both? i am concerned with the fats issue, so only 1 teaspoon is added. is the amount alright?
thanks! monica

Rice for dogs? Mar 2, 2011 11:33 AM (Total replies: 11)
oh MoMo is a fussy eater too! just changed her kibbles, so for the moment *touch wood* she finishes her kibbles breakfast.
ah... does that explains why she eats her poo? must be the undigested rice in her poo.
is mixing fresh food with kibbles advisable? heard that it is not very good as both take different time to digest.

Wire Ctare + Pee Tray potty training for Japanese Spitz Puppy Mar 2, 2011 10:47 AM (Total replies: 19)
hi yveyve,
that is how puppies behave! i remember MoMo looked at us though we are aliens when she just joined us. but now, she understands 'no', 'go away' and other basic commands.
do you scare your boy when he makes mistakes? like smack the floor with papers or something. my girl used to be really afraid of that, so i think it helps a little in toilet training.
heard that housebreaking liquid really stinks? haha. have not tried that so don't know if it's true.

hi yveyve,
do you intend to leave the wire floor and tray as his toilet after he is toilet-trained?
is your play pen very much larger than the tray? just in case he doesn't have enough space to sleep and play after you put the tray in.
hope your boy learns it soon!

yes, how to make dogs burp? is there any benefits that come along with burping?
my girl only enjoys her brown rice for dinner. for her kibbles breakfast, i changed flavour recently. from science diet chicken to lamb. *cross fingers* she manages to finish these two days. hope this will go on. i am just afraid that she likes it now because it is new, and will stop eating after a while.
i really hope she can be a good girl in terms of finishing her meals.
i have no idea if she didn't like her chicken kibbles because it doesn't taste nice or any other reason?
oh, and i've heard that it is not advisable to mix water with kibbles. is that true?
thanks!

Red Toy Poodle - Need help and advise Mar 1, 2011 08:46 PM (Total replies: 35)
hi yvonne,
i sourced mine from those advertisements online whom referred me to a pet farm at seletar farmway, which then recommended me a home breeder. i guess sometimes, when it comes to choosing your pet, it's the gut feel. some people make feel comfortable with certain sellers, others are not. perhaps you can visit a few places before deciding.
i think 1.3k is around the range for a toy poodle. my girl cost me 1.7k.

hi yvonne,
when it comes to finding your pup, guess you have to search a few places before you find it.
for me, i visited a couple of farms and did online research. in particular, petschannel is a very good avenue!
there are also a couple of sites where people advertise sale of pets.
i found my girl through a pet farm. the owner recommended a home breeder and that is where i found my girl.
oh yeah, adoption is definitely a better option though!

Rice for dogs? Feb 27, 2011 03:11 PM (Total replies: 11)
i feed my furkid with brown rice for dinner everyday, accompanied by a vegetable and a meat/fish. carrots are good choice as vegetables!
my girl certainly enjoys her dinner! as compared to her kibbles as breakfast.

honestly, i didn't know before this that raw diet is quite common in singapore. i thought most pet owners go by the conventional feeding of dry/canned/hcf diet. very interesting to learn from here!
in my opinion, i guess owners have to work with their pets to get the optimal results. we have to really decide on what to feed them, and if they enjoy it, then this is the best outcome. if not, owners may have to try out other methods before reaching the desired outcome.
i am still at the trial and error stage. you may say that i am too conservative as i am still trying to make MoMo eat her kibbles. may take some time for me to pull of this conventional thought of making kibbles her staple food. but so far, so good, probably because she gets the nutritions from her hcf dinner. will probably have a check-up done on her when she goes for her sterilisation in the coming months.

out of the kibbles and home cooked food given to her, MoMo certainly prefers the latter. i am quite concerned with switching totally over to hcf as kibbles provide puppies with the total nutritions necessary for their healthy development. am i right?
i totally agree with all your opinions that we choose our pets' food. as such, they really depend on us.
300roses and bubbly, what are you feeding your furkid with?
ran, so your girl was a fussy eater until NB was introduced?
a question - are mixing of kibbles recommended? either different brand or flavour.
thanks!

Wire Ctare + Pee Tray potty training for Japanese Spitz Puppy Feb 26, 2011 03:23 PM (Total replies: 19)
hi yveyve,
i think getting a pee tray will be a good idea since you mentioned that newspapers do not work for your spitz. those kind which is different from that in the crate. probably the problem is he thought he can only do his business in the crate? so when you let him out, he does not know whereelse he can pee or poo.
have you got any pee pad? one of the methods i used was to absorb her pee with the pee pad and lay the pad in the tray. she would then smell her odour and did her business there.

Wire Ctare + Pee Tray potty training for Japanese Spitz Puppy Feb 23, 2011 09:47 PM (Total replies: 19)
hi there!
do you have a pee tray? i think it helps and that it doesn't leave their paws wet and leave paw prints all over the place, so it is good in that sense.
i didn't use crate training though. if you don't mind listening to my method, here's how it goes.
i was lucky that the first time my poodle, MoMo, peed was on the pee tray. but then, she peed everywhere and anywhere after that. we would scold her or even rolled newspapers and used it to hit the floor to scare her. then she knew she did wrong. and sprayed vinegar on the wrong spots to remove the odour. she was kept in her playpen when she slept or nobody was around to look after her. in the playpen, she knew that her toilet was on the pen. this continued for about two months. and when she was four months old, we let her out of her playpen as we were quite confident that she was already almost 100% toilet-trained. but till now, occasionally, she has little accidents. just need to scold her to remind that it's wrong.
hope this helps!
the process can be quite tough but it will be all worthwhile when you realise that she knows how to do it! the patience will pay off. Edited by ping_mon on Feb 23, 2011 at 09:48 PM

Thanks, cottonhill!
Then what can I do to ease the situation? We always make sure she has her fresh bowl of water next to the food dish.

Is Nature's Variety Prairie Salmon Meal & Brown Rice Medley recommended?
I am really concerned with the healthy development of my furkid as it seems that she can be quite picky on food.
Thank you so much for any advice. Edited by ping_mon on Feb 21, 2011 at 09:52 PM
