Hi there, understand you're a new member here. Welcome!

To help keep the forum organize and tidy, please start your topic in the right forum. Your question on shampoo should not be under 'introduce' forum. I'll help you to move the topic over to the right forum.

It will also help to give a descriptive topic title instead of 'i need helppppppp' which speaks of nothing in particular. In your case, I've changed your topic to 'White on white shampoo' instead. Easy right?

For the next topic, do start right ya?

Cheers!

Make sure you know how to take care of them, their diet, environment and enclosure sizing. Otherwise, instead of a quick death, it may become a long and prolong slow death.

They are quite large right? Those in the mkt? You may need a really large area to house them.

Behaviour, Grooming, Handling & Play » Do your guinea pigs 'whee'? Aug 8, 2010 08:12 PM (Total replies: 8)
Hi hamster_poco, have you tried giving your GPs vege like wheat grass, cut up tomato, apple slices or carrot slices? When you're preparing for the food, they will quickly smell the food and went sort of 'berserk', running / dashing around their enclosure and potentially wheeting!

Identify also if your GP feels 'protected' in their enclosure. If they don't feel very 'protected' like in the absence of suitable shelter, they may feel edgy and can't relax. Don't place the enclosure near a place where they can get startled by sudden movement like behind a wall where someone can just appear suddenly from behind the wall. They can get startled.

Not sure what you mean by 'stucks in the floating platform'. In the water or on the platform?

Terrapins breathe using their lungs and needs to come up to the water surface to do an air exchange. If not, they may drown.

If there are underwater 'maze' or places where your terrapin may be trapped underwater, there is a danger of drowning. Fix the issue by re-arranging or replacing the item / article causing the trap.

If your terrapin has been 'force' to keep swimming for a prolong period of time, it may become exhausted. A rest may solve the issue.

I agree it's not the best choice to house the terrapins together if they are not familiar with each other. They do fight for territorial space.

for the offer to help. Hope all works out.

Environment, Housing and Accessories » My Terrapin Tank Aug 2, 2010 09:50 PM (Total replies: 4)
My terrapins shred all water plants that I threw at them. Literally shred to pieces. And the poo of the terrapins contain plant fibers that are not fully digested. These fibers rot and smell very rapidly, so I don't like to have plant or feed veg to my terrapins. I trust my Mazuri pellets and Nutrafin sticks combined will provide a very balanced diet inclusive of plant matters.

I understand that in order for the bulbs to keep operating in the designated light spectrum as in the design specifications of the lamps, they have to be replaced after sometime, as aal said, 6 mths is good gauge. But if you don't mind, you can keep using them until they are blown.

I'm not loyal to any brand of filter. When they spoil or 'leak electricity', I'll go to my usual fish shop and get one that suits my need. Mainly, easy to replace filter sponge. I don't clean, only replace. You may not want to follow. So your filter selection criteria may be different. If the filter is not 'sucking the waste', get a stronger filter (higher litres per hour). Definitely not air powered, should be water powered. An underwater power filter should do the job.

Guinea Pig News and Discussion » Questions from a prospective GP owner! Aug 2, 2010 09:35 PM (Total replies: 21)
It depends on what gender you get. If they are both male, they are more likely to fight. But note that having both female does not mean the chance of fight is zero. They may also get along well in the beginning, when they are young, and when they grow older, one may show domination over the other. It's about probabilities. Getting two females has the best chance of a harmonious pair. I do not think breed matters for GP.

Environment, Housing and Accessories » Where to buy UVA & UBV light? Jul 27, 2010 03:42 PM (Total replies: 2)
Hi Eric, a full spectrum light tube is recommended. They provide a wider spectrum of light and tubes last longer than bulbs.

I got mine from Aqua Star Trading http://www.petschannel.com/shoppeplace/shop/aqua-star-trading/372 Electrical products from them carries shop warranty too (I think 3 to 7 days, may be longer for more exp products).

After I've moved to my new place in few years back and shifted my terrapins from the kitchen to the utility area (where you dry clothes) which is bright, I don't use artificial lighting anymore. My terrapins faithfully climb on the basking area which receive direct morning sunlight to bask every morning. Direct sunlight cease around 10.30am - 11am so the area becomes cool thereafter.

I've a 2 ft full spectrum light tube also

PERSONAL: Flea Market » WTS: Full spectrum light for terrapins, fishes Jul 27, 2010 03:40 PM (Total replies: 8)
Hi guys, all available specs / writings on the packaging / tube are in above photos. No details on 'UV content' available on packaging. By the way, UV is only a small part of the 'full light spectrum'. A full spectrum light consists of visible light spectrum, infra red range, ultra-violet range, etc.

I believe we should measure lighting strength by watts vs tank's size & depth instead of 'UV content'. For terrapin tanks, depth is not important as depth is more for water plants in a water tank. Deeper the water, the stronger the light needed to reach deep to the plants. In terrapin tank, the terrapin comes out of the water to bask, no water depth to penetrate.

For more product specs, see
http://www.hagen.com/usa/aquatic/gloreminder/glo.cfm (mine is LIFE-GLO 2, the only one for terrariums)
http://www.hagen.com/pdf/aquatic/glo_brochure.pdf

Still going at S$10.

Hey, congrats! The vet's suggestion is a first for me. Using chicken broth. Can you show a bottle of the chicken broth, in case other face the same issue and can try this method.

Tip: Upload the pic to some external photo hosting like photo bucket or tinypic. Don't use the photo slots here.

If possible, a pic of your terrapin in the chicken broth mix. That will be VERY helpful to others.

Hi Eric, great to hear the good news! Congrats!

We'll discuss the lamp, external filter, etc, in the respective section of the forum as this topic is in the diseases health and diet section. Keeping in-topic will help fellow terrapin owners find information faster. Start new topics if you wish.

Congrats again.

Yes, UVB light helps terrapins to recover because of the warmth. Terrapins are reptiles and are cold-blooded. A warm environment will raise it's body temperature and that helps in recovery. If you're sick, the fever is the body's response to raise body temp to auto-recover.

Back to your terrapin, hope it will recover soon.

If the scales are 'standing out' too, then I'm afraid but they are likely not going recover. I've encountered numerous such situations and none has recovered. It's supposing some kind of poisoning.
