A Deaf Dog Jan 22, 2013 10:26 AM (Total replies: 1)
Hi all,
I would need some advise as I've just adopted one abandoned deaf dog. I did not noticed that he was deaf, just noticed that he doesnt barks at all except when we lock him in a playpen for awhile. I tried calling him, clapping hands to get his attention but he would not response unless he is looking at me. Sometime he react to sounds but most of the times he doesnt. I wanted to trim his fur around his face as it was too long but he doesnt likes anyone to touch the furs on his face.(He is a Shih Tzu). He would let out an unhappy growl if you keep touching his face. I have experience with dogs but not once having this disability. He is currently not sterilised but will be arranging a full health check up and also an appointment to sterilised him after his health check up. I'm still not sure of his age though. Last night, I could not catch any sleep as he doesnt sleeps. He will lie down for around 5-10mins but would run to us if he saw us moving on the bed. As Shih Tzu is a playful dog, you know what I mean whenever he came to find us x.x, EXCITED. His eyes are some sort redness, might be due to lack of sleep and also grieving when he was abandoned. I know that he is still feeling insecure and that he would be very afraid that he will be abandoned again, how do I go about helping him? Edited by ahgaogerr on Jan 22, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Seeking for guidance and suggestions Jul 12, 2011 11:22 PM (Total replies: 4)
Hi,I'm here to seek serious guidance as recently I had a cat roaming at my house area, and sleeps outside my house in the night. She was rather thin compared to those that i met around my house area. I fed her whenever I sees her around. The cat has already been sterilized but no one was taking care of it. I notice her ears are very dirty, and i could only help to clear off the outer of the ear as i dont wanna hurt her ears. Recently I saw the cat being chased by other cats*they are big in size and also looks well fed*,and also it seems very afraid of them. I noticed several minor injuries on her,but wasn't sure whether was it caused by those cats. I had rabbits at home and couldn't bring in to my house to protect it. I've placed a collar on her, hoping that the other cats would get the idea that she's being protected and wouldn't bullied her. What can i do to help this cat further? I need some suggestions Edited by ahgaogerr on Jul 12, 2011 at 11:24 PM

thanks zell for helping.. yea currently the doe and the buck is seperated by cage because the buck always disturbs the nest. and also i'll fully take care of the kits if shes pregnant again because this is my responsibilities. to me,my pets are my everything.i treated them like my own children thats why even for minior things..i'll get really concern and wanted to know what to do ( as im a first timer in rearing rabbits too) and also the doe and the buck had good relationship as even though the doe is pregnant, she's still with the buck. and when i lock up the buck in the cage she'll be bside him outside the cage. sometimes its hurtful to see them being separated. My mom plays a part in the responsibility too. when im at work ,she'll be lookin after them and will call mi up if anything happens. and wen i get home, she'll go to sleep and i'll take over i do go over the websites to look for information on taking care of the kits. but to be fully get the exact answer i need to know the answers from owners as they experienced before. sorry for all the troubles

Hi , thanks for everyone's reply and help !..it gives me a great help totally ! i appreciated alot ! i was lucky that the doe was able to recognize her kit!! i put back new hays, towels n etc so as to make it like her old nest and placed the kit inside ! and she seems ok with it and was happily nursing her kit and is taking very good care of it ! lucky it wasnt too late for anything..the baby is living happily under the care of the mother
last thing that I wanna ask is that when should we remove the nest and when will the kit leave the nest ?

need help from experienced owners!! Feb 14, 2011 11:55 AM (Total replies: 28)
Hi , my doe just gave birth to four kits last night but sadly i lost three of them when i got home from work. not knowing anything and afriad that i will lost the last kit , i quickly removed the kit from the nest and put the kit in a box with a towel beneath and also covered with the furs that was left in the nest to keep the kit warm. and i threw away the whole nest together with the dead kits. Not long after , i noticed my doe goes to her 'nest' location and fractically looking for her kits. she was digging nonstop at around the area and sniffing around it. I quickly bring the box that I placed the kit inside at the 'nest' location but she doesnt seems to know that her kit was inside, despite smelling her own scent on the furs. she was biting the box and jumped into the box and stepping all around it. afraid that she will accidently step onto the kit, I quickly removed the box. my boyfriend helped to lay my doe on his lap having her back laying on his lap and i took the kit over to her nipple but it seems like the doe had no milk because after nipping for awhile it went to search for another, then it goes over and over again\ i 'assumed' that my doe had no milk in her,so i decided to try again on the next morning ( which is today). I did gave my doe her kit,she smelled the kit and licker her kit but once i placed the kit back to the box, she doesnt know where her kit went and i suppose she would be thinking that all her kits are gone today , i carried the kit to the dor again ( with the doe with her back laying flat on my boyfriend lap) but it seems that the duration of time that it nips the nipple is way shorter than last night. i am very afraid that the kit will die so I would like to ask what should I do to let the kit survive
- sorry for the long chat

female rabbit after male rabbit? Oct 13, 2010 12:32 AM (Total replies: 3)
both of my rabbits is not sterilized. i recently bought a new doe for my buck from pets lover shop. on the first day of arrival,my buck was chasing after the doe for sex. and the doe was afraid of the buck. but after a few days, the doe starts to chase after the buck for sex. she even did the same movement as how a buck would do on the doe for sex.(grabbing the butt and pushing in x.x) now my buck seems depressed over her and ran away from her whenever she starts doing that again on him. she would follow him wherever he goes. is this normal for a female rabbit? i'm having thoughts that she might be a buck

Help ! something is wrong with my rabbit Sep 14, 2010 12:32 PM (Total replies: 19)
hi, thanks you guys for helping me. i went to bought a new carrier which i can lure her to walk in rather than hopping in.. as due to her leg..she's unable to hop. i have brought her to the vet. and it was due to skin irritation that makes her pluck her own fur off. they had done an x ray on her bones..and it doesnt seems to be a problem(as from what the doctor told me) but it definitely looks weird..and she could not bend yr leg too. doctor could not give any explaination on why is her leg like this as the X ray shows theres nothing wrong with the bones. im stil rather worried about her leg now as her skin now has starting to recover.

its a ferplast rabbit carrier. the height was too tall for her to jump in by herself.(due to her injured leg) i tried yesterday to place the carrier inside. tried cornering her but she tried ways to run off. now even i just place the carrier inside, she'll push away cox she knows that we want to put her inside.
