HI Everyone,

Share with you all my experience whn visiting to the vet. For myself, i will never step into Mount Pleasant anymore... 2 weeks ago I bought my dog XB to the vet regarding her eyes. Before that i always go to The Joyous Vet for vaccine and also the problem in XB's eyes. The vet told me that it's just scarring(maybe when she's a pup, she hurt herself). They gave me eyedrop but the eyes stil doesn't heal. They then referred me to Mount Pleasant as they have the equipment and EYE SPEACILIST to check! So I called up and make an appt vet, the receptionist are nt v friendl though.

i wil just skipped the registration part. Whn it's XB's turn, we went in and the Dr told us to make it fast as she have alot of dogs to attend and have a surgery later. I told her XB's problem regarding the left eyes. She see XB's eye and told me it's a cataract. (maybe genetic). Then she off the light and use a orange lighting to see into XB' eye and told me her left eye is BLIND! i asked her if thr's any cure, she said NO! She said she wil only give me medication(eyedrop) to ease the pain!!!

I went out of the room and met a lady also bringing her dog regarding the eyes. I told her my situation and she told me that i can seek 2nd opinion at ANIMAL RECOVERY CENTRE with DR JEAN PAUL LY! So i heed her advice, I went to consult Dr LY . The people there are much more friendlier and more compassionate...... They did a ERG test and ultrasound on XB to see if she's eligible for cataract surgery on tt day and it shows that XB is eligible for a cataract surgery and that her left eye are nt TOTALLY BLIND!!! At least they did the test if nt i won't know.

So today XB is having her cataract surgery at 12pm!!!! pls pray for her))))

DON'T EVER EVER GO TO MOUNT PLEASANT CLINIC!!! Zzzzz~~~

How is XB now? What did vet say?

Don't doubt your decision. You are doing out of good intention. It is done anyway, and you can't reverse it. What you need to do is to keep XB feel secure and relaxed, and be watchful of her healing wound. XB's wailing and not eating is probably due to pain and discomfort. However, it is good to have her re-examined since you are worried.

I believe she is wearing e-collar 24-hr. PLEASE ensure that e-collar stays CLEAN and DRY, esp after meal time, drinking and medication. Even breathing would moist up the area closest to the nose. Dirty and moist area is ideal for bacteria, which you want to keep out from the wound.

I trust that you and your family will give her the best care.

Thanks for all the comfort words.
Today is Day 8 since XiaoBai operated her eye. There's slight progress(a lil a lil only) nt much discharge frm the eye. There's stil blood clot inside her eye, Dr said takes about a mth to dissolve.... but one thing good is that her eye can be open widely!!! Whn i brought Xiaobai back for reviews, dr said she has progressed but cant guarantee that her eye sight wil b bck Xiaobai is really pitiful, she suffered alot. Few days bck her poop is super super black and she vomited black liquid!!!! Dr said shld be the meds that causes it.... sigh!!!

Pray real hard that Xiaobai wil b able to regain her eye sight soon.......byebye~~~

Hi

May I know which Mt Pleasant you have gone to and possible, what is the name of the vet? For me, I still visit Mt Pleasant but I only follow a specific vet. My vet is a very nice guy and I have known him for several years already. His name is Dr Kasey Tan.

He is one person that will only give you a conclusion/ result when tests are done on your pet. Before my old silky passed away, he had many illnesses besides blindness. Many vets that I saw suggested to put him down to ease his disabilities and sickness but not Dr Kasey. He was the only one that disagreed and also cured him of his illnesses.

Honestly, I realise that there are many vets who come and go at Mt Pleasant. Like what you have said, I have met before two lady vets that were very negative towards my dog. I couldn't remember their names cos it was many years back before I met Dr Kasey.

So generally speaking, it is not the vet hospital that counts but the vet is.

Nevertheless, hope your baby has a speedy recovery.
