does your dog do that stretching action everyday in front of you? do you know what it means?

my dogs do that to me few times a day & i have never known what that means till today. was reading a book on dog's body language which explained that when dogs do that stretching action to you, it is their way of greeting you & they will only do it to people they like or feel comfortable with.

i've always wondered why they always stretched in front of me & even stand on their hind legs and stretched on me - thought they wanted to use me as a support to do their full stretch.

yes all my 3 gals stretch.

sasha & coco has the same stretch habit which is in down position and raise head and stretch their hands out.

while coco stretch is one of a kind and quite amusing to see her stretch out that way.

she would be in sit position and really stretch her hands out on to the edge of sofa or bed and can see her enjoying the full stretch as if she's releasing some tension on her back.

That is so good to know! Jewel was an abandoned dog and showed many signs of having been badly abused. After less than a week, she was doing this stretching act in front of me and I wondered what was going on. I am happy to know that she feels we are family, since she now stretches every day to all of us!

Monster is a yoga enthusiast He does "downward facing dog" followed by "upward facing dog"

It's exactly like human yoga position... I guess only those who practice yoga will know what I'm talking about Haha!

Thanks for the info! That's really sweet of Monster now that I know what it means... Sometimes he does it at the door when we come home

He only does it for me or my mum... In my dad's case, it's like "Israel vs Palestine"... Monster doesn't like him.. Haha!
