Time is running out! SPCA will be operating from our present Mount Vernon premises until 2012. So we thought what better way to celebrate World Animal Day then at our premises so that we will have memories of our good times here which we can bring with us to our new place.
With that in mind, the celebrations this year will be extra special as we countdown to our move. So please treat this as a special invitation to join us in the festivities we have planned at our open house!
So what do we have lined up?
Exhibition
This is an excellent opportunity for us to raise public awareness through an exhibition of our work and on issues ranging from the consequences of abandoning pets, the benefits of sterilisation, including useful tips on responsible pet ownership, latest updates about animal abuse and much more.
Pet Adoption
If you have been thinking about sharing your home with an animal companion, World Animal Day would be a wonderful time to adopt an unwanted pet. But you must be 100 per cent sure that you have what it takes to give an animal a loving home. Bring home a friend that will love you for life.
Make a stand for Whale Sharks and Dolphins!
Whale sharks are majestic creatures, known as the gentle giants of the sea. Dolphins are intelligent animals and their friendliness and playful attitude are legendary. Find out more about whale sharks and dolphins and why the SPCA is against the importation and keeping them in captivity. Don't forget to purchase specially designed T-shirts, priced at only $7. These T-shirts are aimed at increasing awareness and spreading the message that whale sharks and dolphins should never be kept in captivity. The ocean is their home!
MC Extraordinaire
SPCA presents to you a master at engaging audiences! Be entertained by our volunteer Chris Liew who will have you laughing out loud with his fun antics, rousing games and quizzes where you can win attractive prizes galore ranging from SPCA souvenirs to pet food.
Dog Behaviour Booth
Can't seem to get Blackie to relieve itself in the right area? Lucky barks at inappropriate times and Butch pulls on the leash when on walks!
Get all those questions and more answered at our Dog Behaviour Booth between 11am – 1pm. Meet Kang Nee who will be glad to help you iron out those problems.
Kang Nee has a Ph.D. in Zoology, specialising in the study of animal behaviour. She is also certified by the Animal Behaviour College (USA) as a dog obedience instructor.
Sweet Memories!
Over the years, the SPCA has helped a lot of amazing animals that have come through our doors. We are going to have a pictorial spread of some of our favourite moments and we want you to choose your favourite one. If you choose the ONE that gets the most votes, your entry will go through a lucky draw where you could win a weekend high-tea voucher for two people at Scotts Lounge kindly sponsored by The Grand Hyatt Hotel.

A pet advice corner where you can seek advice and consult with our very knowledgeable Information Officers to determine if you are ready for the lifetime commitment of owning a pet. Our whole array of pet care leaflets, dog and cat booklets will be on display for you to take as well.

Children’s T-shirts
Get your hands on children’s T-shirts specially designed by the SPCA’s youth volunteers who have spent their free time painting these works of art at our premises and putting their personal touches on them. Pet Food Drive
The next time you are in the supermarket and are stocking up on groceries, don’t forget to add a couple of cans of dog or cat food into you trolley cart. Bring those cans when you come because we are having a pet food drive on that day. What better way to help the animals in the shelter than provide them with food whilst they wait to find a loving home.
